If you love cheesecake but don’t love the guilt (or the two-hour bake time), these protein cheesecake jars are about to become your new favorite thing. They’re creamy, tangy, sweet in all the right ways, and packed with enough protein to actually keep you full. Best part? No oven required.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

These jars taste like dessert but function like a snack you can feel good about. The Greek yogurt and protein powder combo gives you that classic cheesecake tang without needing a block of cream cheese and a water bath.

They also come together in about 10 minutes of actual hands-on time. No baking, no waiting for a cheesecake to set overnight, no cracked tops to worry about. You just mix, layer, and chill.

And honestly, they’re just fun to eat. Something about a little jar of dessert makes it feel special, even on a random Tuesday.

Ingredients You’ll Need

The base of these jars is Greek yogurt, and I really recommend sticking with full-fat or 2% here. It gives you that rich, creamy texture that mimics real cheesecake filling so much better than fat-free yogurt does.

Vanilla protein powder is doing double duty in this recipe, adding both protein and sweetness. Whey or casein both work, though casein will give you a slightly thicker, more pudding-like set if you let it sit in the fridge for a few hours.

Cream cheese, even just a small amount, is the ingredient that pushes this from “protein yogurt bowl” to “actual cheesecake vibes.” Light cream cheese works fine if that’s what you have on hand.

For the crust layer, crushed graham crackers are the classic choice, but crushed digestive biscuits or even a low-sugar granola work well too. A little melted butter or coconut oil helps it hold together in the jar.

You’ll want a touch of honey or maple syrup for sweetness, plus lemon juice and vanilla extract to round out that tangy cheesecake flavor. If you’re feeling fancy, fresh berries or a fruit compote on top take these from great to genuinely impressive.

Tips for the Best Results

💡 Tip: Let your cream cheese soften at room temperature before mixing. Cold cream cheese straight from the fridge will leave lumps no matter how hard you stir, and nobody wants lumpy cheesecake filling.

Use a hand mixer or immersion blender if you have one. It only takes a minute or two, but it makes the filling noticeably smoother and more like real cheesecake than if you just whisk it by hand.

Don’t skip the lemon juice, even if it seems like a small addition. It’s what gives the filling that little tangy edge that makes it taste like cheesecake instead of sweetened yogurt.

Layer your crust first, then filling, then a bit more crust or fruit on top. It looks nicer, and you get that classic cheesecake bite in every spoonful.

Storage and Reheating

These jars are a make-ahead dream. Store them covered in the fridge and they’ll stay good for up to 5 days, which makes them perfect for meal prepping breakfasts or snacks for the whole week.

📌 Note: There’s no reheating involved here since these are meant to be eaten cold, straight from the fridge. If anything, letting them sit out for 5-10 minutes before eating softens the filling slightly and makes it even creamier.

If you’re adding fresh fruit on top, I’d hold off on doing that until the day you plan to eat each jar. Fruit tends to get a little watery and sad after a few days sitting in the fridge.

These also freeze surprisingly well without the fruit topping. Just thaw overnight in the fridge before eating.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make these without protein powder?
Yes, you can swap it for an equal amount of Greek yogurt or a bit of extra cream cheese, though you’ll lose some of the protein boost that makes these special in the first place.

What protein powder works best?
A vanilla whey or casein protein blends the smoothest and pairs really well with the tangy cheesecake flavor. Chocolate protein works too if you want a different spin on the recipe.

Do I need to bake these at all?
Nope, this is a completely no-bake recipe. The filling sets up in the fridge, so all you need is a little patience while they chill.

Can I make these dairy-free?
You can, using a dairy-free yogurt, dairy-free cream cheese, and a plant-based protein powder. The texture will be slightly different, but the flavor still holds up nicely.

product: Immersion hand blender – makes quick work of getting the cream cheese and yogurt filling completely smooth and lump-free.
